Mind Blower

Covert Dreams Michael Meyer

Covert Dreams Michael Meyer

I was totally captivated reading this riveting international thriller. I was bounced back and forth from the beer gardens and streets of Munich to the deserts of Saudi Arabia. This story kept me totally involved from beginning to end and all points in between.

B.J. is a happily married man, a career in the advertising business and content with his life. He starts to have dreams about a woman named Dabbie who is a stranger to him and as the dreams progress and continue he discovers that he is the man in the dreams with her. When the dreams turn into nightmares they begin to threaten not only his marriage but his sanity and stability as well. Ultimately, as the dreams overpower him, he sets out for Munich to confront his demons head-on. What happens from that point on is an engagingly powerful set of circumstances that will keep you on the edge.

Stan has just arrived in Saudi Arabia to start a new job and to make a new start with his wife. When his wife does not arrive as planned and there is no sign of her very existence his life is turned upside down as he is thrown into and experiences a nightmare of his own.

The characters are extremely well developed and believable. Their frustrations, fears and panic as they set about on their separate journeys will grab you, fill you with compassion and haunt you as the story unfolds.

I highly recommend this book to all readers who like to be totally captivated and swept away.

  1. This is the first review I've written for Amazon. I'm a very picky reader (that's putting it mildly) and I tend to subscribe to the adage that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I'm not sure that's the best policy in life, but it's the one I tend to go with. This book, fortunately, has given me an opportunity to speak out. This is the best book, bar none, that I've read in an eon. It grabbed me by the collar and wouldn't let me go. I read it in three sittings. The voice, the pace, the settings, the highly intriguing plot: they all grabbed me. And the great thing was there was nothing grisly or disturbing. I don't like things like that. What I got was highly intelligent writing with a very compelling plot, and no violence. Bravo. One last point: at the end of most of the chapters the author used an unusual and effective technique that really won my respect. I felt I was in the hands of a master. Terrific book. I would recommend it to anyone.

  2. Covert Dreams had me from the gripping opening scene to the satisfying conclusion. This international thriller takes you on a wild ride from Munich to Saudi Arabia and deep into the minds of the major characters. It gives a disturbing look at psycholgical manipulation by the highest levels of foriegn govenments. I have never read Mr. Meyer's work before, but it was like I was reading Robert Ludlum and the Borne series. Well done.

  3. Michael Meyer's Covert Dreams is a winning combination, high octane, thrill ride not to be missed. B.J. is a married man living a normal life with his wife, has a normal job with an advertising agency, and normal friends and interests until the dreams start to invade and take over his life. The dreams start out as normal everyday dreams except they are about a woman and place he has never seen or visited. All too soon they pretty much take over and ruin his life as he knows it. Dabbie is the woman and Munich, Germany is the place of his dreams that have turned into his own personal nightmares. He tries everything to turn these nightmares off, tries all avenues in the medical profession only to receive no relief. Eventually he decides to travel to Munich to confront these dreams and takes more than the journey he has imagined. Parallel to his problems is another man, Stan, who is going through his own nightmares in Saudi Arabia.

Pick up your copy of Covert Dreams and take this undertaking with B.J., Dabbie, Stan and his wife Valerie. This story will not disappoint as it sucks you right into these lives from page one and doesn't let go until the last page is turned.

I don't usually read international thrillers, but by the time I had read the sample chapter of Covert Dreams, I was hooked. The writing is great, the storyline keeps you interested, and the suspense mounts. Don't start reading this book on an evening when you have to get up early the next morning, because you're going to find it hard to put down!

I'm looking forward to reading more from this wordsmith! Michael Meyer is a born storyteller!
